School Mission Statement

Our school is a small, welcoming community of parents and educators dedicated to nurturing the growth and development of each and every child into an independent thinker and learner. We work toward giving students opportunities to be authors, mathematicians, fine artists, musicians, critical readers, inquiring historians and scientists, and responsible community members.

We believe literacy education is a balance of good children's literature and instruction in basic arithmetic skills. Our children acquire a strong foundation in problem-solving strategies. We teach social studies and science using an inquiry-based approach; these are closely integrated into the literacy and mathematics programs. Individual creative expression is fostered through the Studio-in-a-School art program and the music program of the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music.

We wish to create an atmosphere in which learning is exciting, where children are nurtured and feel comfortable, and where parents are welcome.
