A message from Eric…

I want to wish everyone a safe and restful break. I hope that you all are enjoying your time with your children that we adore so much as our students. It is hard to believe that another school year has passed and we are launching into summer. This was a fantastic year, and I look forward to building on the work that we all do for our children when we return in the fall. I am grateful to be a part of this community. I was reminded of how special a place P.S. 154 is as I walked the hallways, encountered so many smiling faces, and said my goodbyes to the children on Tuesday. Some of the students even asked for more school, which is definitely a sign that we are doing something right!

A final congrats, and good luck, to our outgoing fifth grade students. Saying goodbye this year was difficult, but I know that they are prepared for middle school and will achieve great success in the next chapter of their lives.

Thank you to our families that supported their fundraising efforts at their Care Fair. In total, the three fifth grade classes raised $1,294.72 for Khloe Cares, Katie’s Krops and Kids Saving the Rainforest. The project showed students that it is never too early to organize around something that is important to them. Children their age started each of the organizations that they partnered with.

Lastly, families can expect “Welcome Back” letters to arrive in their inboxes during the first week of August, with important information for the 2016-2017 school year. Kindergarten letters will be sent out regular mail. If you haven’t done so yet, please send your current email address to Debby Wattenbarger at dwattenbarger@schools.nyc.gov. Until then, please take time to relax, rejuvenate and enjoy the summer with your families. In the meantime, I will be working on my fastball, so that one of these times I don’t throw the ball into the dirt throwing out the first pitch at the Cyclones game!
