ATTENTION: FAMILIES OF CHILDREN WITH INDIVIDUALIZED EDUCATION PLANS (IEPs)
Your teacher will be emailing you a letter from Principal Buckley with a link to a very important survey. It is very important that every student with an IEP has a parent or guardian fill out this survey. This anonymous, internal survey, for which only Mr. Buckley will have the complete results, is designed to help PS 154 become better aware of parent and family experiences for those families with children with IEPs. If you need the link to the survey, it is below. Please fill out one survey for every child in your family who has an IEP.
2017 Survey For Families of PS 154 Students With IEPs
PTA GENERAL MEETING
MON, DEC 18, 8:30-9:20 am in the MMR
- Learn about Responsive Classroom social and emotional learning taking place in classes, with examples of "energizers" that help children refocus their energy during class.
- Hear about exciting new changes to Raffle Mania — our only adults-only PS 154 fundraising event.
- VOTE on adding the Sustainability Committee mission statement to our PS 154 PTA Bylaws.
END OF YEAR GIVING
With your help, our PTA has raised more than $54,700 – 22% of our $250,000 overall fundraising goal. Thank you! Donate before December 21 via the PTA lockbox in the main office or by the end of the year via our website for your charitable contribution to be tax deductible during 2017. Your donations make a huge difference to the children at PS 154!
SOCK DRIVE — THANK YOU!
We had a fantastic turnout for the first of our School Spirit days! Not only did the kids have fun wearing their Silly Socks to school, they learned about helping those less fortunate by donating socks for families in need. Thank you for your generosity!
Today, we are collecting donations of winter hats for adults and children that are brand-new with tags and original packaging. We will send these to a local shelter. Your children can drop off their hats to the MMR.
KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN
All New York City residents with children born in 2013 can apply now to kindergarten until January 12, 2018 one of three ways (PS 154 does not handle initial registration.):
- Online via our application site
- By phone at 718-935-2009
- In person at a Family Welcome Center
- Read the NYC Kindergarten Directory to learn about applying to kindergarten and find programs that interest you in your borough and district.
FREE MONEY FOR PS154
ALL YEAR LONG
Need a Christmas Tree? Planning to buy presents for your family and friends? Please do your regular holiday shopping and give PS 154 a bonus by using our links and our name when you buy your stuff. Check out the MANY ways you can help PS 154 during this holiday shopping season.
This campaign aims to share all the incredible PTA funded programs that our children benefit from with your family. We do this by collecting names of grandparents, godparents, aunts, uncles and special friends to whom we make a one-time annual fund appeal. Please give us contact information!
AROUND THE CITY
School Crossing Guard Recruitment
The district is hiring crossing guards. We love our school crossing guards, Susan & Veronica, but sometimes they need to be out and the city doesn’t have enough staff to send backup. If you or someone you know is interested in applying, you can find out more info here.
