PS 154's very own Nicole Brier is running for the District 15 Community Education Council.

In late April, PTA Presidents, Secretaries, and Treasurers will vote to select our district representatives. On March 27, a delegation of 154 parents attended the CEC candidates' forum to hear Nicole and many other committed parents from around our district campaign. The competition is fierce and we need YOUR help to please spread the word about our amazing candidate!

Here's how:
encourage any parents you know in other D15 schools to ask their PTA Presidents, Secretaries, and Treasurers to vote for Nicole! These schools may also have a candidate running who they support but that's OK because they get 2 votes!

About Nicole:

  • PTA Executive Board member at PS 154 for two years
  • Last school year, she managed food service for all events, improving our offerings in quality, healthfulness, diversity, and profitability. This year, she’s the head of all events, all of which have been a blast and exceeded our school’s fundraising records.
  • Founding Chair of the PTA of PS 154 Committee to Support Special Needs

Nicole's Goals for the CEC:

If elected, Nicole’s focus will be to support and empower parents to speak up for their children with special needs, as well as to cultivate the conditions in our District 15 schools to support those parents in getting the best services for their children. Since they were small, Nicole has been a tireless advocate for her own children, all of whom have IEPs, but especially her son William who has a neurological speech disorder called apraxia and who is dyslexic. She learned first-hand how critical it is to speak up for your child, and what an all-consuming process it is.

Her goal in working with the CEC is to make the process of getting help for a special-needs child less frightening for all District 15 parents. Many families don’t have the luxury to plan their work day around evaluations or the English language skills to get through the many forms. Every family deserves the help they need to ultimately reach the place where school becomes a place of growth and joy for their children, not a place where they want to sit in the back of the room and hide.

Please consider voting for Nicole. More than anyone we know, she gets stuff done. She demonstrates every single day in our community how committed she is to our kids, and she truly wants to impact all District 15 kids.

PLEASE VOTE! April 23-May 9
