SCHOOL LEADERSHIP TEAM (SLT)
The School Leadership Team (SLT) is made up of parents, teachers and administrators who meet on a monthly basis to collaborate, develop, and implement school-based educational policies, as well as ensure that resources are aligned to implement those policies. The SLT also plays a significant role in creating a structure for school-based decision making and shaping the path to a collaborative school culture.

Roles and Responsibilities
Include (but are not limited to):
Ensuring that parents, teachers, and administration participate in shared-decision making and act in a collaborative manner concerning school-based planning.
An SLT is responsible for developing a Comprehensive Educational Plan (CEP). The CEP includes the goals and strategies of a specific school every calendar year. School Leadership Teams work to develop these goals and strategies that lead to improved student outcomes.
In a collaborative manner, the SLT assists in the evaluation and assessment of school education programs and their impact on student achievement.
Schools should have one SLT body, but subcommittees may be created to better assess working sites within the school, which report back to the SLT committee.
The full role and responsibilities of SLTs within the NYC DOE can be found here and are governed in accordance with New York State Education Law Section 2590-h requires every New York City Public School to have a School Leadership Team. In addition, Chancellor’s Regulation A-655 (CR A-655) establishes guidelines to ensure the formation of effective SLTs in every New York City public school.
